rAPC are jokers, no gang-up can stop Buhari’s re-election ―Omo-Agege
THE controversial senator representing Delta South at the upper chamber of the National Assembly, Chief Ovie Omo-Agege has declared that no amount of gang-up can halt the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari come 2019 presidential election.
Beaming with smiles at his arrival at the Osubi Airstrip in Warri on Friday amid a mammoth crowd, Omo-Agege described proponents of the rAPC as jokers whose sponsors in the National Assembly would soon be unmasked.
Relishing his somewhat heroic welcome to his state after about three months of self-exile, the senator told reporters that he was elated by the crowd that had defied the Friday heavy downpour to welcome him home after his travail in Abuja.
Among the APC leaders who accompanied Omo-Agege were perennial governorship hopeful, Chief Great Ogboru, former general secretary of NUPENG, Chief Frank Kokori and the state chairman of the APC splinter group, Prophet Jones Erue, among others.
According to him, those behind the rAPC, especially in the Senate, are cowards who will soon be exposed, adding that no amount of gang-up can stop President Buhari’s re-election in 2019.
He said the representation of his people at the upper legislative chamber was propelled by his passion and compassionate interest to speak on behalf of his people and better their lot and therefore could not be cowed.
“The Urhobo people know that I am not a coward and cannot be intimidated by anybody; no matter who is involved.
“They sent me to the National Assembly, and I have represented their interests that is why they came out in their numbers to welcome me back home.
“I am representing eight local governments and one guy, who is representing just about five local government areas, will wake up and say he suspended me, and you expect me to pack my load and go home? you know that can’t happen.
“The actions I took at the Senate to address the anomaly is what my people expected me to do, and that is what I will continue to do until justice is done because the 109 senators are equal,” he averred.
Speaking further on President Buhari’s chances in the 2019 election following the crack in the party, Omo-Agege said he was confident that President Buhari would win.
“We don’t expect the action of the ‘Rejected APC’ that is what they are called to affect the President’s re-election, because the people in that group are not very important in their different states.
“Although we know those who are behind them, but out of cowardice, they will not show their faces for people to know that they are the ones sponsoring them.
“But we know them, especially in the Senate, but with time, they will all be exposed, so, nothing they can do to stop Buhari’s election in 2019. No amount of gang up will affect Buhari’s re-election,” he boasted.
Senator Omo-Agege, it will be recalled, has been in the eye of the storm with the National Assembly leadership over his vociferous aversion to the reordering of the sequence of next year’s general elections which he averred as being targeted at the president.
He was subsequently accused of masterminding some thugs who ignobly removed the Maze from the Senate chamber after he was placed on the suspension which he also challenged in court with a relief granted.
Omo-Agege, since his travail about three months, has not visited his constituency until Friday.
