Greater Manchester Police threaten to arrest anyone wearing a half and half scarf
MANCHESTER police joked they will arrest anyone caught wearing a half-and-half scarf ahead of Sunday’s powder-keg derby.
The odd fashion trend saw fans debate on Twitter about whether it should be acceptable or not – and the cops joined in on the joke.
The tweet from Greater Manchester Police said: “Ahead of the Derby, we’ve been asked by this follower to arrest anyone wearing a ‘half & half’ scarf. Thoughts?“
It was after Sports Masseur from Manchester Dale Austin tweeted the GM Police to warn that the half and half scarfs are a threat to public safety and anyone wearing one should be arrested.
“Hi gmpolice GMPCityCentre, if you see anyone wearing one of these on Sunday please arrest them immediately. They are a threat to public safety. Thanks.”
Ahead of the Derby, we’ve been asked by this follower to arrest anyone wearing a ‘half & half’ scarf.
The GM Police then reached out to their followers asking for their thoughts.
And of course fans were quick to reply to the tweet.
One follower said: “I wholeheartedly agree. He makes a very valid point.
Whilst another said: “Let’s have a crimewatch special naming and shaming.”
Manchester United take on Manchester City at Old Trafford this Sunday.
The Manchester Derby is on course to be the biggest game in Premier League history as Mourinho and Guardiola continue to battle for the title.
However the derby could be in jeopardy after the Met Office issued a warning today with eight inches of snow set to fall on Sunday.
Which means fans might be forced to wear the half and half scarf after all!
