When is the Mariah Carey movie of All I Want For Christmas Is You released and what is it about? All you need to know

Mariah Carey sent the internet ablaze when it was announced that she would turn one of her biggest hits into a full-length movie.

So what is the film about? Who’s going to be in it and when is it out? We’ve got the lowdown…

What is the story of All I Want for Christmas is You?

All I Want for Christmas is You will be an animated movie based off the Mariah Carey’s Christmas anthem of the same name.

While the song has always been considered a declaration of love, the film will follow a baby Mariah find love with… a puppy in a shop window.

Becoming devoted to the idea of getting the pet, her parents tell her to look after a less-lovable mutt called Jack first to prove she can take care of the pet.

Young Mariah then sets off on a mission to prove her worth – as Jack turned her family’s life upside down.

Universal, who are creating the film, said: “Like the song itself, Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You is destined to become an enduring family holiday classic.”

It will be based on a book of the same name that was released in 2015.

Who’s starring in All I Want for Christmas is You?

Breanna Yde, who has been seen in the US TV adaptation of School of Rock, will take on the voice of young Mariah in the flick.

Happy Days star Henry Winkler and Mean Girls star Lacey Chabert will also be lending their voices to other characters.

Mariah will be narrating the story as it unfolds on screen.
